Billy E. Dunn, Jr. born April 25, 1964, in East Prairie, Missouri, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend whose life was marked by faith, love, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.
Billy graduated from Mississippi State University, carrying with him the values of hard work, loyalty, and perseverance that would define his life. On July 28, 1990, he married Catherine Cooper Dunn. Together they built a strong and faithful marriage rooted in love, family, and their shared Catholic faith.
Alaska was where Billy found true peace and serenity. The vast landscapes, quiet mountains, and open skies spoke to his soul. Whether hunting, fishing, or simply taking in the beauty of God’s creation, he felt closest to the Lord in the stillness of the wilderness. His profound love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for God and his devotion to the Catholic faith, which guided him throughout his life.
Above all, Billy cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Dunn; his daughter, Clayton Dunn; his son, Cooper Dunn (Anna); and his treasured grandson, Lee, who brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother, Lee Dunn (Jennifer), and their children, Jocee, Decker, and Ella.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Carolyn Lee Dunn and Bill Dunn.
Billy’s legacy is one of steadfast faith, enduring love, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. He will be remembered for his strength, his “MacGyver” like abilities, his generous spirit, and the peace he found both in his family and in the beauty of the outdoors. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial mass will be Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Andrew Nguyen officiating. A reception celebrating Billy’s memory will be held immediately following mass at 1006 Riverbirch Cove, Greenwood, MS.

Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
