Ida Alderman Obituary

Ida Patricia Dunn Alderman, 88, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 20, at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home followed by burial at Mount Olive Cemetery in Coila with Rev. Colin Montgomery officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Wilson, Fred Baine, Will Alderman, Gray Alderman, and Thomas Williamson.

Ida was born January 13, 1938, in Carroll County, Mississippi to the late Charlie C. and Madie Jones Dunn. She graduated from Vaiden High School and resided in Greenwood for 70 years. Mrs. Alderman worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Leflore Farmers, Johnson Implement Company, and International Harvester and later a home maker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood and held a life-long devotion to her faith and family.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Alderman of Greenwood; and by siblings, Grace Tice, Alonzo Dunn, Henry Allen (Pat) Dunn, Annie Acy, Floy Ellis, and Winnie Holman.

She is survived by sister Bess Norville and a brother, Edward (Zeke) Dunn; two sons, Larry (Elizabeth) Alderman of Greenwood and Steve (Lynn) Alderman of Madison (MS); four grandchildren, Ashton (Chris) Wilson of Greenwood; Avery Alderman (engaged to Thomas Williamson) of Germantown, TN; Gray Alderman of Spring Hill, TN and Will Alderman of Cleveland, MS; and four great grandchildren.
